The Danish architect Arne Jacobsen dominated the most personal and successful interpretation of international functionalism.
One of his masterpieces 1956-61 Royal Hotel, situated in Copenhagen. For the hotel's decor designed several pieces of furniture, lamps and fabrics, and also cutlery, glasses, even the doorknobs. Important counterpoint to the vertical stiffness, the monumental building, is the "egg" chair, which stands out as organic sculptures. His mind of architect began to influence their design.
